About Us
The Alabama Association of Accountants and Tax Preparers was founded in 1942 by a small group of dedicated accountants who acknowledged the value of integrity and self-discipline in public accounting and therefore promulgated an effective code of ethics and rules of professional conduct to help guide the future of this profession.
The growth in membership, prestige and influence in the state has been most constant. Through the years, the Association has become more and more active and instrumental in promoting and upgrading, through educational programs at both the state and local levels, the competency of those members who interest is in accounting and taxation.
Because of the organized planning of the Association, the active participation and cooperation of members in local chapters and the increased need for continuing professional education, membership has become a major importance to the practicing professional in the public sector.
The association, as a body, is constantly active in protecting the rights and encouraging the high ethical standards of the various professional licenses of Alabama.
