Continuing Education Requirements for Tax Professionals


IRS Requirements
IRS oversees continuing education requirements and the approval of CE providers, like us, for two different categories of tax professionals:
Enrolled Agents: 
72 hours every three years
  • Obtain a minimum of 16 hours per year (2 of which must be on ethics)
Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents:
72
hours every three years
  • Obtain a minimum of 16 hours per year (2 of which must be on ethics)
Alabama State Board of Accountancy
The continuing professional education requirement applies to all registered Public Accountants and Certified Public Accountants holding annual permits issued by the Board and all non-­licensee owners registered with the Board. 
CPAs:
40 hours each fiscal year ending September 30th
  • Obtain a minimum of 8 hours in the subject of accounting and auditing.
